About the position:

Our unstoppable GL accountants are responsible for the financial accounting of appointed Distrelec entities in 15 countries in Europe. They are on daily, weekly and monthly bases doing reconciliations between financial accounting systems and subs and is responsible for correct and timely reporting (internally and externally), tax declarations. As a Sr. general Ledger accountant this person will provide oversight, counsel and guidance to the General Ledger Team. This is fixed position 2 year term.

Day-to-day responsibilities will include: 

• General ledger entry calculation and posting;
• Fixed asset administration;
• Salary journal checking, booking and reconciliation;
• Accrual, provision calculation and posting;
• Month-end closing and reporting;
• Support management on legal change implementation;
• Year-end closing and annual statutory reporting;
• VAT declaration, statistical report preparation and submission;
• Maintaining and supporting a strong team spirit and positive work
  environment;
• Seeking for process automations opportunities, investigating of such and implementing;
• Team, workload, vacation, absence, work allocation management and
  planning with the General Ledger process area;
• First point of call for General Ledger Accountants and point of advice and
  counsel with support from senior finance colleagues as required.

We would love applicants to have:

•  Accounting/economics/finance/management background; ACCA/CIMA
  qualified or equivalent preferable
•  Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English;
•  Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high
  volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness;
•  Multi-entity/Intercompany and multi-currency experience an advantage;
• Commercial awareness;
• Ability to lead and inspire people;
• Strong systems skills, ideally with SAP (ERP system) & Cognos (Group
  Consolidation Tool).
